Spy Monkey Mistaken for Dead Baby and Mourned by Troop | BBC Earth

This troop of Langur Monkeys show empathetic behaviour as they mourn what they think is a dead baby Langur, which is actually a robotic spy monkey, designed to film the primates. This footage was filmed whilst making the BBC series Spy In The Wild.

Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of astounding, entertaining, thought-provoking and educational natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

It would be interesting to observe the way the colony behaves the days after. Whether they're less energetic, how protective parents become of their children, how the children behave. It would be super interesting to see how they handle it psychologically.

This is fascinating, and I'm so glad we were able to witness this, but I feel terrible for the one who dropped it. Her reaction was heartbreaking, thinking she injured and killed the "baby". Incredible footage. I cant blame anyone for their mistaken reaction, it was not a trick or intended to hurt them. That they showed such compassion for a foundling is simply remarkable. Well done
